LeBron tight-lipped on future after Lakers playoff exit

After the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs on Monday, LeBron James refused to be asked about his NBA future.

With 30 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds, the 39-year-old NBA icon once again put on a fantastic display that defied his age.

But in the latter stages of his career, it was insufficient to prevent Denver from winning a 4-1 series and destroy James’ dreams of winning a fifth NBA championship ring. Instead, Denver defeated the Lakers 108-106.

A year prior, following the Lakers’ 4-0 loss to Denver in the Western Conference finals, James had confirmed the media that he was thinking about retiring from the game.

After a dismal finish to his illustrious 21st season, doubts over James’ future dominated the post-game press conference in Denver on Monday.

When asked if the loss on Monday might have been his last game wearing a Lakers uniform, James grinned and said, “I’m not going to answer that.”

James claimed he hadn’t given his future moves any thought. He still has a year left on his current Lakers contract, but he reportedly has an opt-out clause that allows him to play for other teams.

“I just want to get home to the family honestly,” stated James.

“I’m going to look at the timetable. My daughter is playing volleyball, and I have another child playing ball. One of my guys is currently deciding whether to enter the Draft or return to school. My spouse is accomplishing numerous amazing feats. Thus, family is the topic at hand.

In a few months, I have to travel to Vegas for the Olympic training camp. For USA Basketball, I will therefore rest my body. That was sort of the initial idea.

James has already expressed interest in extending his NBA career to play with his elder brother, Bronny James, should he decide to join the league.
