Dillard is a very talented player who excelled while attending Washington State University. He’s had a rough time with injuries, though:

In his first season, he participated in all 16 games and made four spot starts, three at left tackle and one at right tackle. In 2020, Dillard was anticipated to start at left tackle, but a biceps injury kept him out of the game the entire time.

Over the course of the following two seasons, Dillard participated in 27 games, making five starts at left tackle. However, he also missed seven games as a result of a two-week stay on the COVID-19 reserve list and a fractured forearm sustained during training camp in 2022, which forced him to start the season on injured reserve.

In Super Bowl LVII, Dillard made his final appearance for the Philadelphia Eagles, making five snaps on special teams as the club fell to Kansas City 38–35.

Regardless of whether they were able to acquire Dillard, the Chiefs were likely going to turn to the draft for offensive tackle depth. Dillard, though, would have given the Chiefs the extra depth they needed. Any signings at a premium before next Thursday would help the Chiefs have flexibility before picking. The team has a number of needs to consider in the selection, particularly at wide out.
