NFL: Andy Reid, Brett Veach, and Mark Donovan of the Chiefs receive extensions

Under the direction of coach Andy Reid, general manager Brett Veach, and president Mark Donovan, the Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed their most prosperous season in the team’s history. The three of them will be here for a little longer.

The three decided to extend their contracts with the Chiefs, keeping them with the team.

Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt stated in a statement, “Mark, Brett, and Andy have achieved historic success together, and we are thrilled that they will continue in their roles for many years to come.” “Mark, Brett, and Andy individually represent the best in the NFL at their respective positions, and as a unit, they form one of the best leadership groups in professional sports. We are excited about their ongoing success in the upcoming years as they have been outstanding leaders for this organization both on and off the field.”

With the exception of 2014, Reid, 66, has guided the Chiefs to the postseason each of the seasons since joining the team in 2013. The Chiefs were the first club to win the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons in 20 years in February after winning them in three of the previous five seasons. They have won eight consecutive AFC West titles and participated in five consecutive AFC Championship Games.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Clark and the entire Hunt family for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic franchise,” said Reid. Tammy and I have enjoyed living in Kansas City for the past 11 years. We’ve been welcomed by the neighborhood and have seen our family expand, adding all 12 of our grandchildren while we’ve been here. I’m appreciative of all the players, coaches, and staff who have dedicated their time to this process; they have all played a significant role in our success and Super Bowl victories. I also want to thank Bob LaMonte, who is my agent. Chiefs Kingdom is a unique location, and I feel privileged to be here.”

After serving in the Chiefs’ personnel department for four years, Veach, 46, was appointed general manager in 2017.

“I’d like to thank Clark and the entire Hunt family for the support I’ve received these past seven seasons,” Veach stated. “I am honored to collaborate with incredibly gifted individuals, and I take pride in the job we have done to bring three Super Bowls to Kansas City. I am thrilled to carry on with my career in a community that has shown me and my family such love and support, and I am looking forward to more chances to win more titles for Chiefs Kingdom.”

In 2011, Donovan (58) was named President of the Chiefs. He is in charge of the Chiefs’ business affairs.

“It is a privilege to help lead this organization’s business operations, and I want to thank Clark and the entire Hunt family for their continued support and trust in the work that we’re doing off-the-field and in the community,” Donovan stated. “I’m grateful to have a highly skilled workforce that spans all departments and are all essential components of the company. I’m excited to build and share more historic moments with the Kingdom and am honored to be a member of a team that has achieved unheard-of success.”
