Silver Mining: Potential additions to a unique roster

Certainly, the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl and have an opportunity to win their third championship in five years stinks for Raider Nation.

It’s also not fun that the Chiefs will be using the Raiders’ locker room at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday when they play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, and that they will be spending the week at the Raiders’ facilities in Henderson, Nevada.

However, there is a bright side to this, and if the Chiefs defeat the 49ers, it might make Raiders history.

Since 1968, the Raiders have defeated the eventual Super Bowl champion eight times in the regular season, according to a recent tweet from the Associated Press. This century, it has only accomplished it once.

Of course, though, the Raiders have a chance to surpass the eventual Super Bowl champion by nine wins if the Chiefs, who have won five straight after falling to the Silver and Black, defeat the 49ers. This is because of their 20-14 triumph over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day.
