NIGERIA VS SOUTH AFRICA(AFCON 2024)Following a thrilling semifinal matchup with South Africa, Nigeria advances to the AFCON final.

Nigeria’s semi-final Afcon match versus South Africa was played without Sanusi Zaidu, the Super Eagles’ number three player. The Nigerian Super Eagles finally got to put an end to their rivalry with South Africa on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Nigeria defeated South Africa on penalties, securing their spot in their first Africa Cup of Nations final since 2013.

Following Victor Osimhen’s foul, William Troost-Ekong scored from the spot to give the Super Eagles the lead after a sluggish first half.

In the last seconds of regulation time, the favorites appeared to have increased their lead when Osimhen hammered home, but a video assistant referee check not only disallowed the goal but also gave South Africa a penalty kick after Alhassan Yusuf fouled Percy Tau inside the area.

Teboho Mokoena equalized from the spot, and in the closing seconds of the game, Khuliso Mudau missed a fantastic chance to win the match for Bafana Bafana.

In a relatively uneventful extra time, South Africa’s Grant Kekana was sent off before Nigeria won the penalty shootout.
