As his home ATP 1000 event, Jannik Sinner was excited to compete in the Rome Open, however he has now declared via an official statement that he will not be participating because of a medical caution. Prior to the Madrid Open quarterfinals, the Italian will need to take a break from his damaged hip.
According to reports earlier in the day, Sinner changed his start to aid in his recuperation and will make a decision on Sunday. However, he has already taken that precaution.

Sinner begins his announcement on his official X account, saying, “It is not easy to write this message, but after talking again with the doctors and specialists about my hip problems I have to announce that unfortunately I will not be able to play in Rome.” It’s one of my favorite events, so naturally, I’m devastated that I won’t be able to recuperate. I was quite excited to return home and perform for the Italian fans at home.”

In any case, I’ll be spending a few days in Rome and will be at the Foro Italico. I really appreciate your supportive messages, so thank you very much for them. I will now prepare for Roland Garros by working with my physicians and staff. Jannik Sinner, who will begin his recuperation to be fully prepared for the French Open, says, “See you soon.”

Thus, the overwhelming favorite to win the Rome Masters is Novak Djokovic. The Serbian has a fantastic chance to make it to his first 2024 final and contend for his first major trophy of the season prior to Roland Garros’ arrival if he can do so without Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
