The Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has declared that she is divorcing her husband Stepan Simek, who has already moved out with her cat.

The current Wimbledon champion, Marketa Vondrousova, opens out about the hurt of an impending divorce and how her husband has seized their pet. Less than a year after their wedding, the 24-year-old tennis star is currently going through a divorce from former junior tennis player Stepan Simek, who supported her during her historic Center Court triumph over Ons Jabeur.

After starting dating as teenagers in 2016, the couple had a fast-paced courtship that culminated in their engagement for less than a year prior to their July summer wedding. Following Vondrousova’s August 2021 Olympic silver medal victory, their romance quickly blossomed into an engagement.

But things went south in their marriage when Simek moved out, taking Vondrousova’s beloved sphynx cat, Frankie, with him.

Vondrousova expressed her displeasure to the Czech media source Blesk, saying, “I’m definitely not having a happy time in the last few weeks.” We broke up a few weeks ago, which was the end of my marriage to Stepan. With the cat, he moved out.”

“It just didn’t work out for us,” Vondrousova said, sharing details about her personal life. We decided to break up since it wasn’t what we had imagined. Now that the divorce is officially over, we both agree on everything.

The world No. 7 player praised her soon-to-be ex-husband for helping her through a tough Wimbledon moment, saying: “I honestly didn’t see my coach. I was in the waiting area by myself. My spouse and I had a brief conversation. We spoke over the phone. “Try to fight; you are playing well and this is a great match,” he urged. That concluded it. The break really helped, I believe. It performed well.”

She left early to go with her ailing grandfather at the Indian Wells Open, just one month before. He had been fighting cancer, and she had hurried home to be with him. He died soon after she got back.

Vondrousova acknowledged the impact of her grandfather and conveyed her appreciation, saying, “I was aware in America that he was ill, so I was eager to visit him again and bid him farewell. That I managed to fly and make it makes me very happy. Even so, he thought we were together.”

She acknowledged the influence her grandfather had on her career, saying, “My grandfather was there for everything essential in the beginning of my tennis career. I never could have accomplished what I have in my profession without him.”
